Movie #69 & #70 True Grit

I found myself in an interesting position last week.  I saw True Grit with my lovely girlfriend on Christmas Day.  I later decided to take my father because he is a big fan of Westerns.  He loved the film and it will give the two of us something to talk about for a good long while.  It will also provide another round of qoutes for us to butcher reciting them incorrectly back and forth.

Later in the week I got a call from a co-worker and good friend.  I had forgot that I promised him that we would see True Grit together.  To go along with a common workplace, he is a fellow "achiever" (the handle fans of the Coen Brother film The Big Lebowski self apply).  I got him hooked on the films of the Coen's and I felt obligated to see it with him as well.

In short the second time I watched the film it was the performances that stood out.  The first time I saw it I was enamored with the cinematography.  Upon my third viewing I started to notice small continuity errors.  Did True Grit warrent three viewing in the theater?  No.  It was good but not three times good.  Now the 2007 Coen film No Country for Old Men, I saw it 7 times in the theater and that was only because I didn't have time to see it more.
