This is a grab bag of a mockumentary. It is like the director put different 200 topics in a hat and drew three out. Then he was challenged to make a film connecting them. The three he would have drawn in this case were Alfred Hitchcock, Folgers Coffee commercials and Cold War Politics. I guess it was supposed to be a experiment in non-narrative film making. Whatever it was supposed to be it flopped.
This movie is absolutely absurd. There is no reason to punish yourself by watching this. Consider this a favor. I watched it so you don't have to. I would rather stare at a strobe light for 90 minutes than watch this again.
If you have ever seen any of Guy Maddin's films it is kind of like that minus a soul and the craftsmanship. I give Double Take a 1/5 stars. If you want check out the Trailer Park to see for yourself, but I warned you.
